I am a mother of a wonderful daughter, grandmother of three, and have a wonderful supportive husband. I studied landscape architecture, at West Valley College in Los Gatos California and sign language at Ohlone College. I believe in continuing education and have attended Education Week at BYU University every year since 2000.
I am not a politician, but seeing the need to fight dishonesty in politics and abusive party politics that has raised the cost of living seemingly exponentially, the need to take immediate action to save the Great Salt Lake, and the need to protect our environment, our resources, and our health, I took the leap to run for office.
Being a new comer to politics does not mean that I am not qualified. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said, "The MOST IMPORTANT OFFICE IN A DEMOCRACY IS THE OFFICE OF CITIZEN." Besides, the history of our country is about people who won against all odds. The original 13 colonies had very little chance against the powerful English Empire, but despite being outnumbered, under-funded, and under supplied, the patriots moved forward, never gave up and the United States of America became the first nation of the people, by the people, and for the people.
We can work together to protect our air, water, public lands, and our most precious resource, our children. We can maintain Utah as a great place to live, work and raise a family.
THE GREAT SALT LAKE IS MAKING SCORES OF PEOPLE SICK AND THREATENS OUR ECONOMY
The exposed lakebed is literally like Typhoid Mary, spreading diseases for miles. WE MUST REVERSE THIS TREND!!!
Skeptics now admit cities can conserve thousands of gallons of water because the Salt Lake Metropolitan Water District and Sandy proved it by sending 2,500 acre-feet of water into the Lake.
WE MUST OBLIGE ALL WATER DISTRICTS TO FOLLOW SUIT.
Government needs to safeguard the lake, the health of the people of Utah and beyond, and our local economy such as the multi-BILLION dollar ski industry by restricting development that threatens water flowing to the lake. Learn More
KEEP PUBLIC LANDS PUBLIC. Imagine local recreation spots and National parks where the only way you can see these natural treasures is from media because the land was privatized to corporations? Regardless of promises made to allow public access, once the land is in their clutches, the people will loose all authority over our park lands.
END CITIZENS UNITED, which allows corporations, unions, and PACs to spend unlimited millions on campaigns. As a result, elected officials are focused on pandering to their wealthy donors. Utah Senator Stuart Adams recently accepted $135,000 in donations because of his work in MIDA. These kinds of donations are pure corruption. We must pull the plug on Citizen’s United. Learn More
NO MORE GERRYMANDERING. Utah is just beginning to have fairly drawn voting districts after a seven year legal battle. Equitable maps protect a fundamental part of our democracy: the right to vote and choose our representatives rather than our candidates choosing their voters.

It is necessary for America to serve as an example of democracy and individual freedoms. Building alliances and stabilizing democracy across the globe is key to maintaining a safe world for ourselves and our children.

Forward is building an organization designed to empower voters and local leaders. Forward won’t dictate a rigid, top-down policy platform and expect it to work for every community across the country.
